The sharp uptick in migration in Mexico has caused a crisis as shelters struggle to handle increasing arrivals of migrants heading toward the U.S. border. This is a “new humanitarian crisis” and Catholic shelters are overwhelmed, said Scalabrinian Father Julio Lopez, head of the Mexican bishops’ human mobility ministry.
