Unfortunately, the new rule will not change the status quo for initial DACA applicants. On July 16, 2021, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas in State of Texas, et al., v. The United StatAmerica, et al. issued a nationwide injunction that continues to prevent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or USCIS, from approving initial DACA requests. The procedure for filing DACA renewal requests remains unchanged.
