Mother Jones: Crippling delays may keep diversity lottery winners in Afghanistan
Last summer, the father of an Afghan nurse won the diversity lottery visa — one of more than 2,000 Afghan winners — meaning the nurse and her family would be able to immigrate with him to the United States. But a year later, they are still waiting for their visas. Now, the Taliban control the country, and the family fears they may never get out.
